Day 902: Aurello Murillo, Seville, Spain

Day 902: Aurello Murillo, Seville, Spain

Reference image: pinterest link!

So, this was just a random suggestion in Pinterest that caught my eye in the feed of the house from the day before. really liked the crowning on the top of this building and the weird way that the balcony was supported from above rather than below. Quite a fun and quick little sketch as well which I’m really happy with the outcome of. Wished I’d had a bit more time to do some more of the surrounding buildings for it though to try and place it better but no worries, its still a nice sketch!

Till next time!

Day 857: Paris Shops

Day 857: Paris Shops

Reference image: pinterest link

Time taken: 20 minutes

So, this was a bit of a random one of some nice looking shops in Paris. Only issue is that I didn’t actually managed to finish doing the actual sketch which was a bit annoying (got most of the basic shapes in but none of the shading or the tone down (well ok, nearly none)) but nevermind, I’m not that worried, can’t have a smooth day all the time and for what is there it doesn’t look that bad anyway so it’s all good. Might just have to return to it at some point and try to do a finished one!

Till next time!

Day 824: Shop Front

Day 824: Shop Front

Reference link: pintrest linkie!

Time taken: 40 minutes

So, another shop front for today because you know, I tend to go through phrases (that and pintrest is all here’s some similar stuff so I’m like k, looks good). Anyway here’s another small shop front this time a bit more zoomed out and of a café (or at least the tables would have me assume its a café or coffee shop). Tried to keep it similar but got a bit more sketchy and scribbly with it which I think I prefer even more (though it does seem to darken the overall tone a bit). Especially loving the way the chairs came out personally. Let me know what you guys think!

Day 823: Bakery Window

Day 822: Bakery Window

Time taken: 50 minutes

So, this one took a bit longer than usual but I really enjoyed it (plus kept getting distracted). Was meant to be a sketch of a cottage but this was in the suggested images of it and I just had to sketch it as it looked gorgeous with all its black frames and light bread. Did it in the style that I seem to be settling in with at the moment so the darks aren’t quite as dark as the ones in the reference but i still like it and think its turned out pretty nicely.

Till next time!

Day 748: Tall Shop

Day 748: Tall Shop (Calz de la Virgen 178B, Canal Nacional, Mexico City)

Reference view: map street view

Time taken: 30 minutes

Another tall building for today’s sketch but this time I think its some sort of shop rather than a house or at least some sort of office. Quite liked all the posters all over the walls and windows so decided that it would make a nice sketch.

Till next time!

Day 745: Small Shop 2

Day 745: Small Shop 2 (Manuela Medina 5A, Culhuacan CTM VIII, Mexico City)

Reference view: map streetview

Time taken: 25 minutes

Another small shop this time I’m not really sure selling what but the upper floor looked interesting architecturally so I decided it was worthy of being a sketch subject. Not much else to say though about but I liked the outcome and the sketching itself which is the main thing.

Till next time!

Day 734: Pet Shop

Day 734: Pet Shop (Av Canal Nacional, 28A, Canal Nacional, Mexico City)

Reference image: map streetview

Time taken: 25 minutes

Another small shop for day 744, this time a pet shop (most likely specialising in birds by the looks of it and the amount of cages). This was just done the street from the previous sketch and again just caught my eyes due to the amount of detail that is in the scene and this one is definitely my favourite of the two small shops.

Till next time!

Day 743: Small Shop

Day 743: Small Shop (Av Canal Nacional 28A, 04489 Cuidad de Mexico, Mexico City)

Reference view: map street view

Time taken: 30 minutes

So, decided to try and do a series of the smaller shops and buildings in Mexico City as I haven’t had a lot of time to get these done lately, so, decided in some rather illogical way that doing smaller more detailed sketches that take the same time would work. Whatever logic is or isn’t there though I liked this small shop and although the values could have been pushed more I like the outcome of the sketch.

Till next time!

Day 737: Av, Circumvalacion, Mexico City

Day 737: Av, Circumvalacion, Mexico City

Reference view: Unfortunately and rather annoyingly I can’t find the reference view and the address doesn’t really help in finding it so sorry about that.

Time taken: 25 minutes

Now this was a really nice scene that I found in Mexico City (which makes the fact that I can’t find the actual reference view even more annoying) of what looks like some sort of chop shop or parts shop for cars judging by the stacks of tires and the random car parts lying on the roof of the building. Went for a bit of a sketchy look to the drawing that I managed to get done pretty quickly and ended up with it looking surprisingly accurate given how I’ve struggled lately with sketches that I’ve taken a lot longer over but nevermind, somethings obviously clicked somewhere. and I’m more than happy that it did!

Till next time!
