Time taken: 30 minutes

So, this is another of the monsters from the Kingdom Death Monster game, this time the Screaming Antelope, which is essentially, a large Antelope with a gaping maw in the chest surrounded by human hands (yep, this games is all sorts of weird). Fun little sketch with some nice shading on the artwork and I love how the head came out on the sketch.

Till next time!

Day 389: Kingdom Death Monster: White Lion

Day 389: Kingdom Death Monster: White Lion

Time taken: 25 minutes

So, bit of a random departure from what we normally have on this blog as I’ve recently started watching Kingdom Death Monster playthroughs on youtube and wanted to sketch one of the monsters from it as the lore and designs of some of the monsters seems pretty cool. Anyway this is the first monster that you’ll face in the game in the form of the White Lion,  a strange lion creature with human hands. Interestingly I couldn’t find any drawings of it so I made this sketch from the picture of the miniature that’s included in the boardgame. Quite like how it came out as well though I wish I’d managed to make it look more horrifying or brutal looking.

Till next time!

Day 805: Pumpkin

Day 805: Pumpkin

Time taken: 15 minutes

So, its a day later than actual Halloween but I needed something quick to sketch for day 805 and my pumpkin seemed like a completely appropriate subject that would fit the quick bill. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to say about it other than a late Happy Halloween to everyone and I hope you all enjoyed it!

Till next time!

Day 798: Duel, Alton Towers

Day 798: Duel, Alton Towers

Time taken: 30 minutes

So, back to the trusty old .1 fine liner again and this time were inside Alton Towers and looking at the haunted house style dark ride there, Duel  However, although I didn’t mind the ride I choose the scene to sketch more for the actual building as I really like how it looks and the style that it’s done in, especially the wooden frame middle window bit. Fun little sketch which I managed to work on a lot faster than I thought I would and that I liked the outcome of! Hope you lot like it too!

Till next time!

Day 792: Nemesis ‘Alton Towers’

So, having been a bit burned out on sketching stuff form the model village I decided to return to the whole rollercoaster sketching thing, this time having moved onto Alton Towers (there was one more coaster at Thorpe Park, the Flying Fish which I have ridden but I didn’t really feel like sketching it though I may go back to it at some point). Anyway, this is probably my favourite rollercoaster that I’ve ridden (as clichéd as that statement is), really forceful and just the right amount of roughness to it with plenty of headchoppers. Thought I’d get this sketch of it going through a loop as it gave a nice view of the coaster and the train and again, I went for a sketchy messy style to it which allowed me to get it done quite quickly (and probably more accurately than if I’d tried to get everything right). Anyway, I hope you guys don’t mind this jump back to coasters, I’m almost as obsessed with them as I am with sketching!

Till next time!

Day 782: Babbacomb Model Village ‘Adam’s Family House’

Day 782: Babbacomb Model Village ‘Adam’s Family House’

Time taken: 25 minutes

So, for the second sketch from Babbacombe we have the Adam’s Family House which was a really nice little mansion and the first of several mansions throughout the display. The sketch unfortunately didn’t come quite as well as the train did but I still like it and it looks like a mansion so I achieved that. Not sure I got the whole effect of the foliage behind it though (all the miniature conifers, without which, foliage would be a whole lot more difficult here) which is annoying but I’ve got some more photo’s to try and nail it!

Till next time!

Day 489: Why So Serious?

Day 489: Why So Serious?

Reference Image: Apologies, I closed the tab and now can’t find the exact image that I used as reference.

So, with the best intentions of continuing the Christmas theme I managed to get distracted watching a youtube sketching video and instead, ended up drawing Heath Ledgers Joker looking rather dejected but in his usual evil way.

Really like this sketch as well as I love the expression on his face and how I managed to get some good looking eyes from this sketch which is something I usually struggle with and I love his iconic mouth with its tearing up the side,  overall, just a really nice sketch that I think came out well.

So, another two more to go to catch up but I’m also falling asleep now so will have to do them tomorrow.

Till then!

Day 486: Goblin

Day 486: Goblin

Reference image: image link!

So, here we change from vampires to Goblins, specifically, those that resides in Goblin Town from the Hobbit films. Another film series and book that I really like and have already done several sketches from (Radagast was the most recent one I think).

Again I like the outcome of this one though didn’t think it would work out at all whilst actually doing it. Admittedly though it does look a lot better now as originally I did have several other goblins in the background but unfortunately, there wasn’t anywhere near enough contrast in the goblins and it looked like a mess, hence why I went with solid black background.

I also really like how I managed to successfully forshorten the goblins hands and thank god for the white gel pen or none of this would have stood out in the end. I’m also really happy with his expression, overall just a really fun sketch.

Right one more for tonight as I don’t have today’s photogrpahed so lets get as caught up as wer goign to tonight!

Till then!

Day 485: Marishka

Day 485: Marishka

sketchingdailyDAY485.jpg

Reference image: Lost the reference image I’m afraid, but if you search for Van Helsing vampire brides it should be one of them.

So, another Van Helsing themed sketch for day 485, this time though in the form of one of Dracula’s brides that are seen attacking the town early one in the film (no idea which bride falls during the fight though). Anyway, I choose a snarling image or her from this scene though blacked out her background.

Really love the look of this sketch, in the end, especially the expression on her face and her mouth. I think the black background helps portray the horror and evil look as well.

So, another Van Helsing themed sketch and another blog post down, at this rate we may just catch up tonight!

Till then!
