A lovely little Viking style dwelling that I found on Pinterest is what I’ve done for day 849. At least, I assume its a Viking style building, I’m not really that sure. It looks nice though and made for a fun sketch so thats what I wanted which came out well and is slowly getting quicker.

Day 848: Old village Scene

Another sketch of a village somewhere, this time showing a street scene seen through a gate with what looks like it could be a old mill or forge in it. Quite liked the look of the beam structures ot the left and the shadows in it. Not sure its the best sketch I’ve done but I enjoyed it all the same!

Reference image: I managed to lose the reference image for this one so apologies, its somewhere on Pinterest

Time taken: 30 minutes

This is a quick sketch of a wooden framed building located somewhere in France.  Liked the medieval look of it and the wheel that was in the bottom half. The details in it are panels are also quite nice and overall I just liked the image and the sketch that came out of it, even if I didn’t manage to finish it completely.

Just another quick one for today of this lovely village scene in France built on a hill, making the focus this building in the foreground (in case you didn’t realise that). Loved the brick work on it and the way the windows and doors look so I hope I did it justice!

Day 845: For Honour Centurion

Day 845: For Honour Centurion

Time taken: 40 minutes

Bit more involved with the sketch from yesterday as it was the first one in a new sketchbook and I wanted to draw soemthign a bit different and choose this pose of the a Centurion from the game For Honour. Think I managed to get the pose down well and the proportion aren’t too bad in it (though the sword should be a bit bigger). I’m particularly happy with how the left arm came out (his left).

Time taken: 30 minutes

Had no idea what to sketch for day 844 so found me this little image of an old cottage which had a charm to it. no idea if I managed to capture any of that charm in the sketch but I had fun doing it and don’t think it turned out all that badly.

Day 843: St Andrews Cathedral Ruins

Day 843: St Andrews Cathedral Ruins

Time taken: 20 minutes

So, just another quick write up for this one, with the ruins of St Andrews Cathedral showing what I assume was one of the towers of the Cathedral. Love the rather precarious look of the tower as it looks like its goignt o collapse at any point and I loved the arches in the windows so decided to make this quick, fun little sketch of it!

Time taken: 25 minutes

So, this was one of the most unusual houses that I think that I’ve ever seen and had to be sketched. Quite why its been built here in the first place I have no idea but I love that someone had the guts to do so (unless it the cause of erosion and originally it was attached to the mainland in which case its still pretty epic how it hasn’t yet fallen into the sea. Anyway I tried to make sure that I put emphasise on the actual house rather than any of the other parts of the sketch and I think it worked well in achieving that aim and was a fun sketch to do!

Day 841: Spitfire

Day 841: Spitfire

Time taken: 15 minutes

Right time to do some catching up with these blog posts as I’m beginning to really fall behind again, starting with this WW2 British fighter classic, the Spitfire, another sketch demanded by my son. A nice and quick sketch that was done at a weird angle to see if I could get the perspective correct on it. Not sure I got it completely, but I think I just about managed it, was definitely easier thinking of it as shapes rather than a actual plane, thats for sure!
